Possible Reasons for Glutathione’s Skin Brightening Effect:
- Its antioxidant properties,
- Ability to convert eumelanin to pheomelanin (a type of melanin found in people with lighter skin tones),
- Inhibitory effect on tyrosinase (a key enzyme in melanogenesis).
Doctors typically use glutathione intravenously (IV) to prevent anemia in dialysis patients, prevent kidney issues after bypass surgery, treat Parkinson's disease, improve blood flow, and reduce clotting. It is also used in individuals with atherosclerosis, those undergoing diabetes treatment, and to mitigate the toxic side effects of chemotherapy.
- Stimulates immune function.
- Improves skin characteristics.
- Enhances semen parameters.
- Reduces blood viscosity.
- Increases glutathione levels that have dropped due to aging and environmental stressors.
Solution and Storage Conditions:
Glutathione solution should be stored in a cold environment to slow down oxidative dimerization. Ideally, it should be kept below 15°C, preferably at 5°C. The pH of the solution should be between 5 and 8. It should be dissolved in a cold environment where freezing does not occur.
Besides water, glutathione dissolves in diluted alcohol, liquid ammonia, and dimethylformamide.
Preservatives and pH Adjustment:
Preserved with 1.5% benzoic alcohol and 0.9% sodium. pH is adjusted with sodium bicarbonate and hydrochloric acid.
